Parents for Women in Technology (PWIT)

PWIT is a parent run, volunteer supported organization that began in 2004 to recognize the efforts of UMBC’s CWIT Scholars.  As CWIT has grown to include additional scholar programs, PWIT is also open to involvement of parents of all scholars. Throughout the academic year, we show our support to the CWIT students with various activities, including the following;

  • In the fall semester just prior to finals, PWIT gives each student a “stress relief gift bag” which includes small trinkets, snacks and other tokens.
  • In the spring we host an annual picnic for the scholars, their families, the CWIT staff and some faculty and CWIT alumni.
  • Prior to graduation, PWIT awards each senior their CWIT Honor Cords and a gift from our organization.

On this page, you will find links to membership and volunteer forms, as well as periodic updates on PWIT’s activities throughout the academic year. We are always interested in new ideas and ways to enhance PWIT. Your feedback and volunteer interest is greatly appreciated!

Feel free to contact Terri Racine () with any inquiries. We look forward to hearing from you.
