All women (and interested men) enrolled in majors in the College of Engineering and Information Technology are invited to connect with the CWIT community.  As an active part of the CWIT community you will:

  • meet  like-minded women who are  interested in creating and using technology to make a BIG difference in the world
  • get good, practical, helpful  advice from upper class students in your major about classes and getting involved
  • be presented with opportunities to meet and network with women working in engineering and IT and hear their stories
  • be encouraged to develop your leadership skills through service and student organizations

CWIT Affiliates: New and returning students can become a part of our community at any time of the year by filling out a quick form. CWIT Affiliates Program Information

Peer Mentoring: New women entering all of the majors in the College of Engineering and Information technology can request a peer mentor (a BigWIT as we call them) in their major. Returning students are encouraged to volunteer to be a mentor to a new freshman or transfer student (or LilWIT).  Mentoring Information

Women in Technology Series: CWIT sponsors a number of professional development events each semester that are open to all. These events are  feature industry speakers and representatives and are organized in collaboration with student organizations in the college such as the Society of Women Engineers, the CWIT Student Council and various Councils of Majors. Online Affiliates Calendar  Printable Calender

2nd Annual Spring Into Leadership Event: Wednesday April 4, 2012, 6:30-8:00 pm. This year’s theme is “What’s Your Story?”. Keynote speaker: Ms. Wendy Martin, Harris Corporation. Registration Required by April 2nd. An interactive event cosponsored by the CWIT Student Council,  IS Council of Majors, and the UMBC student chapters of SWE and ASME. This event is also part of the Women’s Center 20th Anniversary Celebration.

Living Learning Community (LLC): Provides opportunities for women and men majoring in an IT or engineering discipline to bond with other students in the same field and create lasting support networks. CWIT LLC Information
